Beginning as a classical piano and voice student over 15 years ago, Katy Moy first encountered her devotion to the Jazz world in 1999. Completely delving into a new branch of music, Katy found her roots through vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, and Chet Baker. Katy continued to pursue music at the University of Southern Maine, graduating in December of 2007 with a Vocal Performance Degree, with a Jazz Concentration. In addition to performing, Katy gives private lessons and has adjudicated for various vocal jazz festivals. Katy’s style focuses heavily on her ability to bend time and phrasing within a song. Her sound is mellow, but angelic, heavily grounded in a traditional jazz style. In addition to singing jazz standards, Katy also enjoys performing popular music with a jazz inspired approach.
