Don Roy Trio

Wednesday - September, 08 @ 7:30pm

IRISH NIGHT AT BLUE presents The Don Roy Trio!

Tap your Feet, Smile a While, Jig Your Way Home!

We’ll be playing some of our favorite French, Celtic and Original tunes, all music we have not performed live in the past.

Don& Cindy Roy’s music is deeply rooted in two strains of Franco-Americantradition – Quebecois (from Canada’s Province of Quebec) and Acadian (from theMaritime provinces of Canada) – significant to the heritage of New England’srobust French-Canadian communities.  Uncle Lucien (Lou) Mathieu, awell-known fiddler in Franco-American circles, introduced Don to the fiddlewhen he was 15 and became Don’s musical mentor. Only one year after picking upthe fiddle, Don won his first fiddle competition. He has since been namedwinner of numerous fiddle contests, including the Massachusetts and Maine StateChampionships.

In2018 Don and Cindy were honored to receive the National Heritage FellowshipAward from the National Endowment For the Arts, our nations highest honor givento traditional musicians.

JoiningDon and Cindy is Jay Young on Upright Bass. Jay has depth in many music genresand is particularly deep in traditional music. He has been performing with Donand Cindy for nearly 4 decades.
