William Joseph Jiordan

Tuesday - July, 25 @ 6:00pm

William Joseph Jiordan is the musical alter ego of Maine farmer and food producer Bill Giordano. Born outside Boston, Giordano moved to Maine when he was 18 to immerse himself in a blend of farming, seafaring, and handmade artistry that was harder to come by in the post-industrial Massachusetts suburbs. 16 years later, his songs weave mythical New England characters, often farmers and sea folk, into a voice for or the hopeful generosity of humanity. He’s performing his winter’s worth of new songs and characters at Blue with with East Blue Hill native Ross Gallagher (Luminist, Ross Gallagher) as a bassist/accompanist.

Ever active in a split career between food production and music he’s played guitar as a member of the Blue Hill-based dance band the Living Daylight. He co-founded the folk ensemble O Deer! with Bridget Isabella Semler (Streetweeper, Starcrossed Losers), Brian Loring and Fiona Schubeck. He recently collaborated with the midcoast Maine mythology and nature theater group the Terra Diddle Collective and LEAP Dance Theater with Kristi Williamson and Kathryn Oliver. Until 2016, he ran a small vegetable farm in Brooksville and Rockport, Maine.

He’s released, a live E.P. with the dreamcountry band DYADO (Emily Ramsey, Louisa Stancioff, and Matt Lohan) and a self-produced single. Both are available for digital download via Bandcamp.
