Ecce Shnak ( pronounced “ EH–kay sh–KNOCK ” ) is an art-rock octet—

nay, a shnaktette—based in New York City. Their sound is a shape-shifting

synthesis of popular musics, classical musics, and punk musics. They have a

standard rock instrumentation—a pair of guitars, a bassist, a drummer,

and a lead singer—but also feature a classical vocal trio and occasional

flourishings of nylon string guitar. The band sports artful costumes designed

and manufactured by NYC-based Tessa Morehouse of Velvet Antler.

Morehouse has also designed costumes for Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips.

Ecce Shnak has two albums they plan to release over the next three to

six months, and most of their live set draws from that repertoire. However,

the set also features several songs from their first EP, entitled “Letters to

German Vasquez Rubio,” released in 2013, when the band was based in
