For The Sake of The Song

Sunday - August, 25 @ 7:00pm

Inspired by the late, great Townes Van Zant, songwriters come together for this monthly showcase to enjoy each other's music. The rest of us are just there to listen, have all the feels, and applaud when appropriate. Artists will bring a mix of Americana music featuring bluegrass, folk, classic country, and blues sometimes tinged with the punk and metal backgrounds of some of the performers. Loosely grouped under what's come to be known as Americana music, the common thread to these performances is original songwriting and storytelling. There will normally be two full sets by a mix of local and touring acts, as well as individual performances before, between and maybe after the two headlining acts. These will often be new, recently written songs by engaging songwriters putting their heart into the moment.
For The Sake Of The Song: Scotty Saints & Michael Steakhouse
Looking forward to another For The Sake Of The Song songwriter's showcase at Blue here in Portland, Maine. Listen to two of southern Maine's most respected musicians and songwriters, Scotty Saints and Michael Steakhouse.
Suggested Donations $15 and we'll also be collecting donations for the Maine Immigrant Rights Council. Hope you can come out, enjoy fine beers, cocktails and the elevated, wine bar-style menu at Blue.
Scotty Saints & True Believers are a loud, fast and melodic punk rock band. Their sound is a throwback to the 1e994-95 punk explosion. Pre Hellcat, pre Fat Wreck, when Epitaph was a punk label and when Warped Tour owned the summer. This will be a special solo performance.
A native Mainer, Michael Stackhouse is a natural troubadour who has been entertaining audiences most of his life. He blends soulful ballads with raucous singalongs and a few stories in between. Enjoy originals from his forthcoming CD as well as uncommon covers and old favorites. The best compliment he’s received? “I like your stuff. You’re different.”
