Jimmy Dority

Thursday - July, 25 @ 9:00pm

Jimmy Dority has donned many musical hats over the years: guitarist, pianist, composer, songwriter, music director (Portland Stage, Lorem Ipsum), performer at the celebrated Piano Night at Mama's CrowBar (R.I.P.), collaborator/member of bands of every ilk from Tin-Pan Alley (Over A Cardboard Sea) to prog-pop (Lovers of Fiction) to punk-jazz (Jazzputin & the Jugskunks). Dority finds joy in the fruitful gray areas where genre and style blur, cross-pollenate, and become new. In 2016 he released Jimmy Do Right & the Pop Go Boom, a pop album featuring a 21-piece orchestra. He continues work on exciting new projects, including a suite for Big Band, choral works, and a new album of pop songs.

KYLE FRIDAY

is a Michigan born Artist, Multi-Instrumentalist, Educator and Producer residing in Portland, Maine.  He can be seen/heard collaborating with a multitude of talented artists, and playing a wide variety of musical styles throughout Maine, and New England. Presently, Kyle is actively recording an original project with vocalist, and dear friend, Kristina Kentigian for their R’n’B, Neo-Soul duo, “Electric Heart”.  He also plays keyboard and sings in Maine’s premier dance band, “Tickle”.  Music is woven throughout every aspect of Kyle’s life, and he loves sharing the joy it brings him with others.

There will be funk. There will be soul. There will be sounds.

"I've been playing at Blue every 4th Thursday of the month and each month, there has been a different ensemble, different music, and usually different stories and ramblings.

The common thread each month has been improvisation.

To me, there is nothing more satisfying than creating in real-time. It is this spontaneity, and magical uncertainty that brings me joy.

So far, these events have been solo, duo, or trio performances; Each one unique unto itself, showcasing the featured guests creative contributions."
