The Joe Beninati Trio is Shaun Bolduc on Upright bass, Eric Napier on Guitar and Joe Beninati on drums. The dynamic trio started in early 2017 as three friends wanting to workshop jazz standards as a way of studying the tradition and growing as musicians. The trio has been playing restaurants, pubs and events in and around Portland.

Shaun grew up in Skowhegan, ME and got his BA in music at the University of Maine at August. His influences are Paul Chambers, Oscar Pettiford and Ray Brown.

Eric grew up in Tampa, FL. He got his BA in music at New College in Florida. His influences are Grant Green, Bill Frisell, Kenny Burrell and John Scofield.

Joe was born and raised in Westechester NY, right outside of New York City. He went to SUNY Purchase and got his BS in LIberal Arts but was surrounded by music and musicians the whole time there. He decided to go back to school a few years later to study music at Lehman College in the Bronx. This experience and playing around NYC with bands for 15 years helped him to hone in his skills on the drum set. His influences are Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Matt Chamberlain, Jimmy Chamberlin, Questlove, Chris Dave and many more.

The three bring their broad range of influences together to create and eclectic mix of traditional jazz, funk and soul.
