"Let The Music Set You Free"

Sunday - April, 22 @ 4:00pm

"Music is the universal unifier, bringing diverse people together in both their joy & their suffering. This movement is about musicians coming together to share stories & songs about setting ourselves free, with the hope that our message will empower you to break free from whatever has held you back. Embracing the freedom to be who we are, and living that out every day, is a process that takes frequent self affirmation and self love."
KATIE DOBBINS:
Katie draws from a music palette of contemporary folk and new country. With a mastery of storytelling and the heart of a poet, this soulful songstress captures elements of life and relationships in ways that lift spirits and challenge the soul. Dobbins' powerful yet comforting vocal tones draw you in and paint her lyrical truths into images that stay with you. Dobbins' Let The Music Set You Free movement, which inspires personal freedom and self-empowerment, has brought her to stages all around New England, including Boston-area favorites The Lizard Lounge and The Burren. Her debut album She Is Free (released 2017) was described by The Deli Magazine as “a deeply personal record that is full of reflective poetry and messages of love . . . bringing to mind Jewel’s Pieces of You.” Throughout her record and live performances, Dobbins creates a warm inviting atmosphere that will leave you longing for more.
EMILY & JAKE:
From early ages, both Emily and Jake were interested and exposed to all types of music. Emily’s father, a music teacher/singer songwriter, introduced her to many different musical genres including rock-and-roll classics like the Rolling Stones and Eagles, powerful singer songwriters like Simon and Garfunkel and Bob Dylan, and rough and tough, old school country like Johnny Cash. Jake’s father, a DJ, producer, and music enthusiast, introduced him to both the emotional and technical sides of music. At eighteen, Jake began playing and writing his own music, influenced by Dispatch, Guster and Jason Mraz. Since then, Jake has graduated college with a degree in audio engineering, released his debut album “Sleepless”, founded popular Portland band The Dapper Gents, and began writing, performing and producing for The Johnny Clay Shanks Band. From the first time they met, Emily and Jake had a chemistry that could only be expressed in the form of music. They combined their individual sounds and released their first single “Last Bus To Portland” March of 2018.
GABBY MICHELLE:
Gabby Michelle is a singer-songwriter, artist, activist, and writer. Her songs call out lies women are taught to believe about themselves, encourage creativity and honesty, empower women, normalize treatment for mental illness, and speak truth, life, and love back into the world.
