Michael Beling: Bedlam & Eunoia

Saturday - November, 02 @ 6:00pm

Original jazz mixed with world music, odd meters, classical, and film score influence. Ranging from the tender to the fervorous. Intimate, emotional music.

Michael Beling

is a faculty member at Bates College, Michael performs regularly with some of the best jazz musicians in Maine and New Hampshire.  Michael graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Piano Performance (Jazz Concentration), from the University of Southern Maine, where he was named Presser Scholar. He studied with many acclaimed musicians including Thomas Snow, Laura Kargul, Ben Waltzer, and Vardan Ovsepian.

Bedlam & Eunoia

This ensemble explores Beling's compositions in a chamber jazz setting, inspired by world, film score and impressionist music. His music defies narrow definitions of style— it can be emotionally intimate, cinematic, or outright manic, but is always easy on the eyes. The Middle Eastern rhythms of Eric LaPerna and beautiful clarinet work of Barry Saunders feature prominently.
Michael Beling- Piano and Bass Pedals
Barry Saunders- Clarinet and Soprano Sax
Eric LaPerna- Hand Percussion
