Nicholas Kozak Quartet

Saturday - March, 14 @ 10:00pm

Nicholas Kozak has been passionate about the Jazz genre since his early childhood.  He began playing in the Pittsburgh area studying with Jazz saxophonist Alan Morrison and Eric Kloss in his early teens, sitting in on Jam sessions in the city of Pittsburgh at the James St. Tavern with jazz drummer and legend Roger Humphries.  Kozak continued his pursuit of this medium moving to the NY/NJ area to study with saxophone masters like Lee Konitz, Dick Oatts, and Mark Turner.  He also began performing vocal jazz under the tutelage of female jazz vocalist Nancy Marano.  Kozak has played in the William Paterson Jazz Ensemble with performance under the direction of Wynton Marsalis.  In the smaller ensemble setting, Kozak has played at Dizzy’s Coca Cola Jazz Club in NYC next to saxophone extraordinaires Seamus Blake and Greg Tardy.  He has been privileged to play on several recordings with Steeple Chase Jazz recording artist Craig Brann.  Kozak brings a blend of cool jazz, bebop, and the velvety vocal sounds of the classic jazz era to a generation that is in desperate need of jazz renewal.
