"Nortonk just has a way of making anything and everything fit together" -  New York City Jazz Record

Nortonk is trumpeter Thomas Killackey, saxophonist Gideon Forbes, bassist Stephen Pale, and drummer Steven Crammer. Nortonk's music showcases a unique range of influences: avant-garde, jazz, metal, new music, and free improvisation. Nortonk released their debut album on Biophilia Records in May 2021, which Jazzwise Magazine called " very much a maximal experience, thanks to a surplus of energy, passion and adventurism". This quartet strives to create an interactive space for each band member to contribute, both as improvisers and composers. Nortonk creates challenging structures that form a framework in which improvisations and musical interactions feel inspired, charged, and immediate. The flexibility of the chordless instrumentation allows the group to instinctively explore the rhythmic and formal elements of each composition. We are a DONATION BASED venue. Please show your support to the musicians by donating to the basket by the stage. Because we don’t charge a cover and 100% of your donations go to the musicians we respectfully ask that each person make a ONE PURCHASE MINIMUM of food/beverage to help support the room. All seats are first come, first served (feel free to share a table). We do not take reservations.
