Sojoy is back at the Blue with its annual set of favorite holiday themes and a few wintery originals. Come let them swing and groove you into the holiday spirit with their signature versions of some of your favorite, as well as some lesser-known, holiday melodies. Nothing brings more joy to the holiday times than gathering for music, and no group is more dedicated to the sound of joy than Sojoy.
The rich sounds of Sojoy originated in the head of composer, drummer, and pianist Jonny Peiffer, arranged for a horn section five-deep - some of the best players north of NYC. With Matt Langley (WeirdTurnPro, OurBigBand), Eric Klaxton (Soggy Po Boys, OurBigBand), and Nick Mainella (Soggy Po Boys, OurBigBand) on reeds, and Zach Lange (Soggy Po Boys) and Justin Leach on brass, these gentlemen combine to create the warmest sound around. Sojoy is expanding its universe and taking on new members as a planet takes on new moons. Peiffer is pushing over to the piano for the first time since the band was formed in 2014 to allow the excellent drummer Eric von Oeyen (OurBigBand) to join the group. Bassist Scott Kiefner (Soggy Po Boys) rounds out the rhythm section and will be laying down the grooves, over which this soaring horn section swings.
