Saxophonist Mike Sakash studied with Yusef Lateef, before settling in New Hampshire 2006. He is a member of the Portland Jazz Orchestra and writes and arranges for the band. His latest recording project titled, “Wood Dance” includes legendary bebop alto saxophonist, Richie Cole, and Maynard Ferguson’s long-time trombonist, Reggie Watkins and is schedule for release in June, 2018. Mike is the Director of the award winning Fryeburg Academy Music Department.
Mimi Rohlfing has had the pleasure of performing with some of her idols, including New York Voices and Bobby McFerrin, and now she hopes to bring inspiring musical experiences to her students at Fryeburg Academy. Previously, she taught at Columbia College Chicago, where she created a vocal jazz ensemble that has performed with such greats as Paquito D’Rivera, Mark Murphy, New York Voices, Ira Sullivan, and Cyrus Chestnut and regularly with The Chicago Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Jon Faddis. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music summa cum laude, and her Master of Music degree from Western Michigan University.
Al Hospers is originally from Macon, Georgia, and has been playing bass for fifty-three years! He received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He moved to New York in 1980, where he played and toured with various bands, including Buddy Rich Band and Blood Sweat & Tears. He’s been living in the Mt. Washington Valley for over 20 years, plays and performs with a wide variety of bands and owns the Clever Sounds recording studio.
Craig Bryan, Jr. drums regularly with a wide variety of groups including Bruce Marshall and the Nor' Easters, Jonathan Sarty, Sounds Clever and the Valley Horns, and the Smoke House Boys. Craig can be heard on singer-songwriter Heather Pierson's latest album “Motherless Child”. A musician since 4th grade, Craig has been teaching for over 20 years. He has B.A. in Music Education from Northern Arizona University and he’s currently teaching Band and Chorus in grades 4 - 8 a Molly Ocket Middle School in Fryeburg ME.
