The Jared Steer Trio

Phil Sargent has worked with a number of prominent musicians including Antonio Sanchez, Dave Liebman, Jerry Bergonzi, John Lockwood, Fernando Huergo, Bruno Raberg, Bob Moses, Matt Wilson, Phil Grenadier, Yosuke Inoue, Thomson Kneeland and others. He studied at the University of New Hampshire and with critically acclaimed guitarists Ben Monder, and Brad Shepik. Phil leads his own group whose compositions draw from a variety of influences, most prominently the odd meters and eastern tonalities of ethnic Balkan music and modern jazz improvisation. Phil released his first recording (For Carl) in 2002. His 2010 release (A New Day) has received critical acclaim. In addition to writing for his own group he composes and has released recordings with the genre bending groups Iskar and The Industrious Noise Trio and many others. Phil also performs nationally as a sideman in the Sonic Explorers, Bruno Raberg Nonet, Rick DiMuzio Quintet, Mehmet Ali Sanlikol Jazz Orchestra, Brooke Sofferman Perspective, John Funkhouser quartet, and a variety of other ensembles ranging from straight ahead jazz to the avante-garde. After studying Jazz Performance and Composition at the University of New Hampshire Phil has since enjoyed a full roster of private students in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In addition, Phil has been an active clinician, teaching improvisation and performance master classes at various colleges and high schools throughout New England.
Scott graduated from McGill University's Schulich School of Music in Montreal, QC, where he studied with Fraser Hollins and Chris McCann. After college, he was selected for additional studies at the School for Improvisational Music Intensive workshop in New York City. He has since returned to New England, where he performs as an in-demand bass player with Jonathan Lorentz, Jim Dozet, Chris Klaxton, and many others throughout New England.
Jared Steer is a well rounded performer who plays with a vast number of projects including Donkilo! (voted Best of NH Band in 2011), The Randy Roos' Urethane, Donkilo Afro Funk Orchestra Ben Rudnick and Friends (numerous awards including several parents' choice awards), Bangkok Disco, The Cough's, Sly Richard, The Dane Anderson Trio, WhiteSteer, Laser Show, The Jared Steer Trio, The Wayfarers, solo percussion for yoga classes and meditation.
Jared can be seen/heard with a number of different other projects as a freelance artist. He also has recorded on numerous albums with many of the region's top artists

In addition to his busy performing schedule, Jared is a sought-after drum set/percussion instructor. He has a B.A. in performance from Plymouth State College and studied with Tim Gilmore and Eric C. Hughes. Post grad studies have been with Long time mentor Bob Gullotti, Jeff Ballard, Rakalam Bob Moses, Jerry Leake, Dave Dicenso, Steve Michaud and Roberto Vizcaino Guillot. He has taken master Classes with Matt Wilson, Horacio Hernandez, Giovanni Hidalgo, Jerome Dupree and Dave Mattacks.

We are a DONATION BASED venue. Please show your support to the musicians by donating to the basket by the stage. Because we don’t charge a cover and 100% of your donations go to the musicians we respectfully ask that each person make a ONE PURCHASE MINIMUM of food/beverage to help support the room. All seats are first come, first served (feel free to share a table). We do not take reservations.
